Let's tell the story of your space together...

01 about

"Interiors, though static, should be fluid in their telling a story about the people that live, work, and play in them." - patrick tennant

Patrick has been in the design profession for 17 years beginning his career as a scenic designer, set decorator, scenic painter, and designing for a noted Tony-nominated Broadway set designer, James Noone. This theatrical period included shows in

New York, Boston, & Los Angeles.

Patrick holds two assistant set design credits on Broadway for "A Bronx Tale," featuring Chazz Palminteri and a revival of "Come Back, Little Sheba," for Manhattan Theatre Club.  Patrick's passion for creating environments and telling stories through those environments eventually lead him back to California and into interior architectural design & decoration where he could bring his storytelling from the stage into personal spaces.

Patrick holds a Master's degree in Interior Architecture from the Architecture & Interior Design Program at the University of California, Los Angeles/Cal Poly Pomona joint design program as well as a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Scenic Design from Boston University's College of Fine Arts - School of Theater.

Patrick has spent the most recent 7 years designing for Tim Barber Ltd. Architecture, a luxury custom residential architecture firm in West Hollywood. Patrick was the principal designer in the Interior Architecture department focusing on designing custom kitchens, baths, interior architectural elements, and all things, as Patrick calls it, "permanent interior design...it's the decorative frosting that is attached to your house you can't take with you!"

04 process

Interiors by Patrick is a full-service design studio guiding owners and clients through a wide range of challenges and design opportunities. Patrick's background in interior decoration, as well as interior architectural detailing, allows Patrick to assist a client from the beginning of a residence to the end. From the architectural plans and elevations to the last cabinet knob and pillow on the sofa! Patrick believes in making spaces that are more personal than perfect; more loved than simply lived in.

Design services can be as simple as a decorative refresh of a living room or as large as a whole house interior decorative design plan. Interior architectural services can be as simple as the design of one bathroom or kitchen or as large as consulting with the construction team and architect on realizing the design or remodel of a whole structure from residential to hospitality and commercial.

Patrick is comfortable in many aesthetic styles but always likes to imbue a bit of history in all his designs. Patrick enjoyed spaces from light and bright to moody and dramatic...maximalism to minimalism. He likes to balance between old and new, sophisticated and comfortable bringing in a mix of vintage items and new ones, "Let's keep the good old stuff and give it new life." His spaces are thoughtfully layered, transcending boundaries with modern elements while adding items with history and character to each corner. Patrick thinks it is all wonderful and every look has its place, design is just as unique as every person.  Design is so subjective but the true goal is to make a space you like, it's your space!

The process changes with each project as each project is as unique as the person it is for...depending on the project the following process steps could be involved...

  • Concept image selections

  • Interior elevation designs and plans

  • Perspective illustration

  • Furniture, fixtures, lighting, material selections

  • Interior architecture & design schedules (the shopping list!)

  • Product procurement

  • Interior installation coordination

  • Project management of vendors and tradespeople

  • Construction site visits and consultation

  • and much much more...

"It's about listening to your client and giving them the best version of themselves."
